A 16-year-old boy is being held at Bulindi Police post in Kyabigambire Sub County, Hoima district after he was allegedly caught red handed defiling a 6-year-old girl.
The incident happened on Monday evening at around 8pm in Bwizibwera village, Kibuguba parish in Kyabigambire Sub County.
It is alleged that the girl had been sent to the nearby shop to buy cooking oil and on her way back home, she was intercepted by the boy who grabbed her and defiled her. She made an alarm that attracted area residents that pounced on the boy beating him to comma.
Police rushed to the area and rescued the boy from the irate mob who wanted to end his life.
Moses Kiige, the officer in charge of Bulindi police post in Kyabigambire Sub County confirms the incident saying the boy is currently in custody at the police post awaiting to be transferred to Hoima central police station.
Alex Mwesigwa, the Kyabigambire Sub County LC3 Chairperson has condemned the act saying it is regrettable. He blamed the act on Marijuana smoking among most youths in the area. He says the arrested boy is one of the youths dealing in marijuana in the area.
He warned parents against sending children alone late in the night to buy items in shops.
